In order to become the world famous brand that Billabong is today, it had to go through years of development and new ideas. From it's humble beginnings, BBG has gone far using their advertising techniques, unique methods of construction and there fashionable appeal, as well as giving back to the community in the form of sporting clubs and events. Billabongs development first began when the couple decided to sell their products at a larger scale by attracting the attention of the professional surfers in their area. Once this had been done, the business attracted attention from many other surfers (due to the original surfers success and achievement after using billabongs products). The business also developed when they decided to sell outside of Australia, as this caused their profits to soar. Becoming a public company in Australia in 2000 was probably one of the biggest business developments that Billabong overtook, as it brought in money that lead to new opportunities. Billabongs biggest crisis so far was probably the downfall on the stock exchange earlier this year, which shone a new unwelcome light on BBG. Yet still, the company that started on the kitchen table is now worth just over 1.6 billion US dollars.
